| Resumo | The development of the mesoscale circulations in Ji-Parana, Rondonia, Brazil, was simulated with the model RAMS. The August 18, 1994 file of NMC was used to initialize the atmospheric fields at the beginning of the simulation, and the synoptic trend was taken into account through a nudging band in the boundary conditions. All the 90 horizontal grids points, separated of 36 km in both x and y directions, of the numerical domain, were considered as covered by tropical forest. The simulated fluxes were compared with the observed fluxes measured during the RBLE3 field campaign of August/94. The results show that the agreement between measured and simulated fluxes is satisfactory; the deviation observed may be due surface parameterization or the boundary conditions considered. This simulation is the initial step to more complex numerical simulations in which detailed vegetation and soil classifications will be included in a nested grid on the region. The results of these simulations will be used in the determination of the strategy in the data collection during LBA experiment. |
